OVERVIEW

MooreHaven was established in 1981 to provide day services for people with intellectual disabilities (mild to moderate) in Tipperary Town and the surrounding areas in Counties Tipperary and Limerick. These services have grown significantly and now encompass Day Activation, Supported Work/ Employment, Day Services, Training Programme and Residential Services. The Centre caters for over 100 people. The Centre’s Mission is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development and work opportunities for people attending the Centre.
We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Full-Time Social Care Worker – Residential Service for 38.8 hours per week.
The Social Care Worker will support residents to become as independent as possible in daily life-skills, working on individual programmes for each resident with a multi-disciplinary approach.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· Level 7 Social Care Qualification.
· Minimum 6 month working in a similar role working w/adults with an intellectual disability.
· A good level of administrative skills.
· A good level of IT skills.
· A full clean Irish/EU Driving Licence
A strong commitment to caring and an empathetic understanding of those with an intellectual disability are essential attributes for this role. The successful candidate will need great people skills, be flexible and have experience with rapid and complex changing work environments.

Responsibilities
  • Care for the day to day needs of the residents;·
  • Physical and intimate care; helping those that require assistance.
  • Supporting the development of independent living skills & social skills in line with the wishes of the residents.
  • Facilitating the residents to use their leisure time tailored to their needs and with an emphasis on community integration.
  • Promote a home like atmosphere for all residents.
  • Housekeeping – cooking, shopping, cleaning, looking after each residents’ clothes & personal beloings, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness & tidiness within the residence. As far as possible the residents will be encouraged to partake in these activities.
  • To act as a Key Worker for residents.
  • To administer & record prescribed medication to service users.
  • Foster integration and provide social opportunities for service users within the local community in line with MooreHaven’s Mission Statement.
  • Under the direction of the PIC, DPIC and in line with Company Policy, the Social Care Worker will be responsible for purchasing and budgeting household monies and making purchases locally where possible.
  • To keep records and reports as deemed necessary by the Foundation.
  • To foster a spirit of welcome to all who come to visit e.g. parents, families, neighbours and guests, in accordance with the wishes of the residents.
  • To be an active member of the day/residential team and attend meetings/case conferences etc. as required.
  • To drive service users to and from work and social outings ensuring they arrive on time in MooreHaven’s Transport (People carrier/vans), in line with the Transport Policy.
  • To be aware of and practice the correct use of all aids and appliances e.g. wheelchairs etc.
