We are seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic, creative and energetic Social Care Workers/Support Workers to support individuals with an intellectual disability to realise their vision for a ‘good life’. The focus of the roles will be to lead initiatives in supporting the individuals to live a life of their choosing and what matters most to them. The role will support the individuals to become connected and valued within their local community, to provide opportunities for new experiences and to assist each person in developing real and authentic relationships. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles and also have experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern and will have experience of person centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualised support approaches.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALITIES OF APPLICANT ARE:

  • Relevant recognised Diploma in Social Care / Applied Social Studies in Social Care/Social Care Practice (minimum Level 7 on National Framework of Qualifications) which are CORU approved. Please note Social Care candidates must be registered with or in the process of registering with CORU. FETAC/ QQI Level 5 (Major Award) in Healthcare or equivalent (e.g. Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support) or willingness to undertake a relevant QQI Level 5 Major Award.
  • Ability to use own initiative and plan effectively.
  • Experience/knowledge of supporting persons with a range of support needs.
  • A valid licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and creativity.
  • Flexibility and willing to undertake roster covering various houses/locations.
  • Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role.
    Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be available for any day, weekend and sleepover shifts. In addition, we require staff members to be willing to work alone in the residents’ homes.
