GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Social Events Sales Manager is responsible for developing and selling to current, previous, and prospective social accounts through client solicitation, outside calls, telemarketing, and other sales techniques. The primary purpose is to ensure all banquet food, banquet beverage, meeting room rental, and audiovisual revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. This position is also responsible for ensuring the proper information is provided to the Banquets Department for the coordination and servicing of in-house client functions and other social functions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

· Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification in Business Administration or sales and marketing preferred.
· Minimum 1 year’s banquet or meeting planner experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills to frequently negotiate convince sell and influence other managerial personnel hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
· Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening probing supporting closing
· Strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment
· Proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products
· Able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
· Strong organization and presentation skills
· Knowledgeable of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.
· Ability to work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
· Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
· Ability to adjust to consistently changing conditions, Guest Satisfaction of utmost importance, desire to succeed, develop and learn the industry.
· Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Solicit, negotiate, and book banquet food and beverage business for the social events market.
  • Continuously prospect for new business while developing positive relationships with all current accounts, social publications, vendors, and other appropriate organizations within the local market.
  • Participate in industry shows and other events to solicit business.
  • Ensure distribution and follow-up within twenty-four hours on all leads.
  • Work with the Director of Sales & Marketing and the Director of Food & Beverage to develop promotional ideas designed to increase sales.
  • Work with clients to establish room blocks and manage associated room revenue for social events.
  • Assist clients by offering suggestions with regard to setup, menus, and decorations.
  • Price menu items in agreement with current catering menus; variations must be approved by the Executive Chef and the Director of F&B.
  • Ensures that all special arrangements - Food and Beverage, Audio Visual, and other requests are properly documented on BEO’s and signed by authorized representative.
  • Ensures timely distribution of all BEO’s and Resumes to the appropriate departments and follows up on any questions.
  • Maintains detailed files, notes, records, and trace systems to ensure event meets with customer expectations.
  • Verifies space requirements and meeting room set-up with the client and ensures that public space needed is properly maintained and in good condition.
  • Confirms revisions in agendas, room blocks, etc. and notifies corresponding departments in a timely manner.
  • Reviews event sheets and works with appropriate departments to ensure quality and satisfaction.
  • Maintains positive guest and employee relations through prompt, precise, and courteous communication.
  • Greet the client contact prior to the start of each function and maintain contact throughout the function to ensure all arrangements are satisfactory.
  • Follow up on completed banquet functions and solicit for future business.
  • Ensure proper completion and distribution of all required sales reports on a timely basis.
  • Participate in daily and weekly sales meetings.
  • Participate in key organizations as recommended by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
