Description
Role Overview As the Social Media & Community Growth Associate, you will own short-form, social-first content that drives measurable user growth for Beacon. Your main playground will be Reels, Shorts, and other short-form formats across Instagram and YouTube, with a strong focus on India-to-Canada migration, student life, and newcomer money stories. You will experiment rapidly with content ideas, appear on camera, collaborate with creators, and use data to double down on what works. Success in this role is measured by installs, sign-ups, and activation, not just views and likes. What You’ll Do Content Creation & Growth Plan, script, host, and edit high-impact short-form videos (Reels/Shorts) for Beacon’s social channels. Publish 4–7 short-form videos per week optimized for reach, engagement, and app installs. Turn offline moments (events, campus activities, festivals, community meetups) into scroll-stopping content. Stay on top of trending formats, memes, and cultural moments; adapt them quickly to the NRI and newcomer context. Write engaging hooks, captions, and CTAs that move people from content to download. Multilingual Content Create content in Hindi, English, and Hinglish that resonates with the Indian diaspora in Canada. Where possible, experiment with regional languages (e.g., Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu) to reach more communities. Social Media Strategy & Execution Build and maintain a simple but consistent content calendar across core channels (starting with Instagram and YouTube). Continuously test new formats, hooks, thumbnails, and storytelling styles to maximize reach and conversion. Engage with comments and DMs to keep conversations going and learn from your audience. Analytics & Optimization Track key metrics such as reach, completion rate, saves, shares, profile visits, clicks, and app installs. Share weekly learnings on what’s working, what’s not, and what you’ll try next. Run structured experiments (e.g., hook A vs hook B, different CTAs) and double down on winning patterns Influencer & Creator Collaborations Identify relevant influencers and micro-creators among Indian students and newcomers in Canada. Brief creators on scripts, hooks, and story angles aligned with MyBeacon’s brand and growth goals. Execute influencer collabs focused on app installs and sign-ups, not just follower growth. Offline Events & Community Engagement Support brand presence at offline events such as festivals, student orientations, and Indian community gatherings Capture and create content around these events to amplify reach online and build a sense of community. Help curate and nurture community experiences that make MyBeacon feel like “home” for NRIs in Canada. Who You Are You live and breathe social media and understand what makes content go viral (hooks, pacing, storytelling, and trends). You are comfortable being on camera and can speak confidently and engagingly in Hindi, English, and Hinglish. You are highly creative, experimental, and fast-moving; you’d rather test 10 ideas this week than overthink 1. You have a strong feel for Indian pop culture, student life, and NRI experiences, and empathy for diaspora communities You enjoy meeting people, talking to creators, and being active at events and in communities. You are a self-starter with an ownership mindset who wants to see direct impact from your work You might be a great fit if you’ve: Already been making Reels/Shorts about college life, immigration, finance, or lifestyle content We care about your portfolio more than your degree or past job titles—formal education is not a requirement for this role. Grown your own or a client’s account significantly, or had multiple videos cross 50k–100k+ views. Requirements (Must-Haves) Demonstrated experience creating short-form social media content (Reels, Shorts, TikTok-style videos) for yourself or a brand. Ability to ideate, script, shoot, and edit your own content end-to-end. Ability to create and present content in Hindi, English, and Hinglish. Strong understanding of Instagram algorithms, trends, and growth strategies for short-form video. Basic knowledge of social media analytics and performance tracking (Instagram insights, YouTube analytics, or similar). Comfortable shooting and editing primarily on your phone and/or laptop using tools like Reels editor, CapCut, Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar. Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with a strong sense of ownership. Bonus Points Ability to create content in additional Indian regional languages (e.g., Punjabi, Gujarati etc). Prior experience working with influencers or managing creator collaborations. Experience in data-led or performance-oriented growth marketing campaigns. Experience growing social accounts for fintech or financial services How to Apply If this sounds like you, we’d love to see your work. Please apply by sending: Your resume or LinkedIn profile Links to 3–5 short-form videos you’ve created (personal, client, or previous employer) A short note (2–3 sentences) on your proudest social media growth win and your role in it
