POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media and Content Specialist works with the marketing and communication team to create and distribute content in various formats across multiple channels with the goal of enhancing the College’s brand and driving digital follower expansion. This position supports institutional marketing objectives through the development of engaging, on-brand digital content and oversight of the College’s social presence, tracking and analyzing performance, and making recommendations to help reach determined performance goals. Responsibilities include writing, creative development, planning and strategy, analytics and reporting, campaign management.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • An understanding of best use practices for social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Familiarity with photography and videography for use in social graphics and content.
  • Ability to collaborate on, produce, and/or edit video content for social media.
  • A firm understanding of video copyright laws and YouTube terms of service.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and deadline oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without supervision.
  • Enjoys building relationships with customers and coworkers.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, web traffic and social media metrics/analytics is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • A bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in marketing, strategic communication, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience using social media to build brand awareness.
  • Experience with graphic design, photo editing, and publishing.
  • Experience with Meta + Google ads is a plus!

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primarily sedentary work performed in an office setting while sitting or standing at a workstation.
  • Ability to attend meetings, events, and community activities on campus or within the community.
  • Use of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers with lifting of less than 20Ib occasionally to fill machines or move files.

Responsibilities
  • Create, manage, and publish original and high-quality written and graphic content across various platforms.
  • Manage College social media accounts to ensure relevant, on-brand, up-to-date content.
  • Manage a social media content schedule for various channels, planning and scheduling posts in advance.
  • Analyze data and metrics to create weekly and monthly reports on digital traffic, user engagement, and ROI.
  • Respond directly to comments and questions on social media posts.
  • Coordinate with social media influencers, bloggers, and news outlets to promote brand awareness and create social buzz around product launches.
  • Provide guidance to College users on best practices for web content and act as a contact for social media policy questions.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support marketing initiatives and to grow the College’s network and target new followers.
  • Copywriting for website; editing/updating content as needed.
  • Assist with proofreading or editing content before publishing.
  • Perform background research as needed.
