Description Type: Fall Internship (unpaid) Reports to: Marketing Manager Office Location: 224 W Hill St Suite 410, Chicago, IL; Hybrid schedule. Title: Social Media Intern Shift: At least 16 hours per week Who We Are Looking For: We are seeking a creative and savvy Social Media Intern to join NAMI Chicago's Marketing and Communications Team. This position is ideal for someone who understands social media trends and enjoys creating engaging content to build an online community. In this role, you'll craft and publish compelling social media copy, graphics, and videos while supporting NAMI Chicago's messaging and brand strategy. Your efforts will help raise awareness of mental health resources and support available in the Chicagoland area. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Social Media: Assist in drafting, editing, and publishing posts across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube. Community Engagement: Monitor inboxes, drafting and publishing comments and messages across platforms with Manager approval. Content Creation: Create basic graphics and short video reels using tools such as Canva and Adobe Premiere. Content Research: Research trending topics, relevant content ideas, and creation tools to support NAMI Chicago's editorial calendar. Team Meetings: Participate in marketing and communication meetings, as well as brainstorming strategy sessions. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Creative and marketing/communications experience in producing basic graphics, short, and long-form videos. Ability to quickly ideate and produce real-time content capture. A background in non-profit or mental health/wellness is a plus. A background as a creator is a plus. Requirements Qualifications and Requirements: Currently, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Highly passionate about social media and brand storytelling, fluent in social and cultural trends related to mental health and advocacy. Highly collaborative, organized with a strong attention to detail, and eager to learn. Possess strong written communication and visual skills. Have a basic understanding of content creation and social media tools such as Canva and Sprout. Familiar with MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Responsibilities
The intern will draft and publish engaging social media content across multiple platforms to build an online community. They will also monitor community engagement and research trending topics to support the editorial calendar.
