POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Manager will lead the execution and management of the company’s multi-platform social media presence to support domestic and international student recruitment, enhance brand awareness, and foster community engagement. This role is responsible for creating and curating compelling multimedia content that aligns with the company’s brand identity, values, and strategic goals, while actively engaging with audiences across platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, and Threads. The Social Media Manager will collaborate closely with Student Recruitment, Academics, and other internal teams to produce content that highlights campus life, academic excellence, and student success stories. They will support major institutional events through real-time coverage, develop content for targeted campaigns, and use analytics to optimize performance and reach. A blend of creativity, strategic thinking, digital fluency, and strong interpersonal skills is essential for success in this highly visible and impactful role.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing social media in an agency, higher education, or mission-driven environment.
  • Proven experience leading multi-platform social media strategies and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of platform-specific best practices for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, Threads, and other emerging platforms.
  • Skilled in writing, storytelling, and creating short-form video content.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator), or other content production platforms.
  • Experience with social scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Later, Buffer) and analytics tools.
  • Basic familiarity with CRM platforms (Salesforce experience is an asset).
Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and lead a multi-platform social media strategy that aligns with IBU’s recruitment goals, brand positioning, and content priorities.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all social media accounts, including Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and others.
  • Create and maintain a social media calendar to support recruitment cycles, events, academic milestones, and institutional campaigns.
  • Collaborate with marketing and recruitment teams to align messaging and maximize campaign impact.

Content Creation & Brand Storytelling

  • Create original and engaging multimedia content (text, video, graphics, reels, stories, carousels) that reflects IBU’s values of innovation, inclusivity, and industry-connected learning.
  • Capture and curate social content from campus life, faculty, student activities, and events.
  • Collaborate with videographers, designers, and faculty to turn stories into compelling digital content.
  • Ensure all content is consistent with IBU’s tone, voice, and visual identity.

Student Recruitment & Event Support

  • Develop social content that supports domestic and international student recruitment efforts through organic storytelling and paid campaign support.
  • Coordinate with event teams to provide social media coverage for key events (open houses, orientations, speaker panels, etc.).
  • Provide real-time content during live events and generate post-event assets that extend engagement beyond the day-of experience.

Analytics & Optimization

  • Monitor performance of content and campaigns across platforms using analytics tools (e.g., Instagram Insights, LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics).
  • Regularly report on KPIs, trends, and engagement metrics to inform strategy.
  • Adjust content strategies based on insights to optimize audience reach and performance.

Community Engagement & Moderation

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and brand mentions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build and engage online communities that reflect IBU’s values and student experience.
  • Act as a brand steward in all interactions and escalate sensitive issues appropriately.

Trend & Platform Innovation

  • Stay up to date on social media trends, algorithms, and platform innovations.
  • Recommend and test new tools, formats, or platforms when appropriate.
  • Keep IBU’s digital presence fresh, modern, and relevant to Gen Z and global audiences.
