Description
Fanatics Collectibles is seeking a Social Media Manager, Japan to lead the day-to-day execution of our social media presence in the Japan market. This is a highly hands-on, individual contributor role responsible for planning, creating, publishing, and optimizing social content that builds brand awareness, drives engagement, and grows fandom for our collectibles portfolio.  This role is ideal for a doer — someone who thrives on owning channels directly, creating content themselves, engaging with fans daily, and turning insights into action. You will partner closely with global marketing, creative, and product teams, while independently driving execution in Japan.  This is a full time role, in the designated office 5 days per week. Key Responsibilities Social Media Planning & Execution * Own and execute the Japan social media calendar aligned to product launches, tentpole moments, and cultural trends. * Create, edit, and publish platform-native content across channels (short-form video, static posts, captions, stories, community posts, livestream coordination). * Write compelling, culturally nuanced copy in Japanese tailored to each platform. * Adapt and localize global assets for Japan, ensuring relevance and performance. * Ensure all content meets brand guidelines while feeling authentic to Japanese fan communities. Channel Ownership & Daily Management * Fully manage official Japan social channels (e.g., X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LINE, and emerging platforms). * Handle day-to-day publishing, scheduling, and content optimization. * Actively moderate comments and messages, engaging with fans in real time to foster strong community relationships. * Maintain consistent tone of voice and brand presence across all touchpoints. Community Engagement * Drive direct engagement with collectors and fans to build loyalty and sustained conversation. * Execute engagement programs such as UGC prompts, giveaways, fan polls, limited drops, and interactive campaigns. * Identify and participate in relevant cultural and fandom conversations. * Surface community insights and feedback to internal teams. Creator & Influencer Execution * Identify and outreach to relevant Japan-based creators and influencers. * Manage seeding programs and execute content collaborations end-to-end. * Draft briefs, coordinate timelines, and ensure deliverables are met. * Track and report on performance of influencer-led activations. Performance Tracking & Optimization * Monitor and report on KPIs including engagement, reach, video views, follower growth, and campaign performance. * Analyze post performance regularly and adjust content strategy accordingly. * Test new formats, posting times, and content approaches to improve results. * Stay current on Japan social platform updates and emerging trends. Required Skills & Qualifications * 5–8 years of hands-on social media management experience in Japan. * Proven track record of independently managing brand social channels. * Strong content creation skills (copywriting, short-form video direction/editing, basic design sensibility). * Deep understanding of Japanese digital culture, fandom behavior, and platform norms. * Experience working directly with creators and influencers. * Comfortable operating with limited agency reliance; able to execute in-house. * Strong analytical mindset with experience using social reporting tools. * Native-level Japanese proficiency and business-level English. * Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.   The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. Subject to applicable laws, Fanatics Collectibles may choose to run a background check. Ensure your Fanatics job offer is legitimate and don’t fall victim to fraud.  Fanatics never seeks payment from job applicants. Feel free to ask your recruiter for a phone call or other type of communication for interview, and ensure your communication is coming from a Fanatics email address (including @collectfanatics.com).  For added security, where possible, apply through our company website at www.fanaticsinc.com/careers. Fanatics Collectibles is a new model and vision for the hobby, fundamentally changing the experience for current and future collectors, leagues, and players across many U.S. and international professional and college sports. The organization has long-term, exclusive rights to design, manufacture and distribute trading cards for several sports and entertainment properties, including MLB, MLBPA, the Premier League, MLS, UFC, Formula 1 as well as Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars, among others. In January 2022, Fanatics Collectibles announced the acquisition of Topps, establishing the preeminent licensed trading card brand as the cornerstone of Fanatics’ trading cards and collectibles business, and jumpstarted its MLB and MLBPA rights to design, manufacture and distribute trading cards
Responsibilities
The manager will own and execute the Japan social media calendar, creating, editing, and publishing platform-native content across various channels aligned with product launches and cultural trends. Responsibilities also include fully managing official Japan social channels, engaging with fans in real time, and driving direct engagement programs.
