YOUR MISSION

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a Social Media Manager to guide World of Warcraft’s global social presence through thoughtful coordination, franchise integration, and vendor management. This role plays a critical role in aligning internal stakeholders around best in class social activations tied to brand and product campaigns, partnering closely with external agencies to ensure strategic continuity and franchise fidelity.
You’ll work across brand, product marketing, communications, and community teams to support social planning and ensure that external social execution is aligned with internal strategies and standards. This position acts as a key integrator between Blizzard’s internal teams and vendor-managed social operations.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 10 to 12+ years of professional experience in social media, franchise marketing, or digital communications, ideally within gaming or entertainment.
  • Considered a subject matter expert with deep domain knowledge in global social media strategy and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, translate franchise goals into social media activation plans, and operate effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional judgment and strategic thinking, with experience navigating nuanced brand, audience, and platform considerations.
  • Skilled at working independently and partnering across multiple internal and external groups to drive aligned outcomes.
  • Adept at anticipating problems, proposing solutions, and proactively managing executive-level communications.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience partnering closely with creative agencies, vendor teams, and global marketing partners.
  • Passion for World of Warcraft and its player community, with a deep understanding of the franchise’s tone, universe, and evolution paired with the marketing expertise and strategic vision to bring this brand to life across social media.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align on brand, product, and campaign priorities that inform social media planning.
  • Oversee the operation of our community channels and the vendors who manage them, driving the WoW franchise’s global social strategy across X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitch.
  • Manage external vendors to ensure social media programming reflects the World of Warcraft brand voice, franchise goals, and campaign timelines.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather timely inputs that support content planning and campaign activations bringing expert strategic insight to real time decision making.
  • Serve as the central internal point of contact for all things social, providing context, updates, and key deliverables to support execution.
  • Track major franchise moments and support alignment between internal teams and vendor outputs.
  • Support social media planning by maintaining awareness of campaign calendars, content milestones, and regional nuances
