JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a creative and results-driven Social Media & Marketing Coordinator to amplify the brand presence of Messina’s Catering and Events and its affiliated venues. This role supports both day-to-day social media execution and broader marketing strategies, with a focus on elevating visibility, engaging audiences, and driving event inquiries and bookings.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Social Media Strategy & Content Creation

  • Develop and execute engaging social media content calendars across all platforms for the following brands:

o Messina’s Catering and Events
o The MISI by Messina’s
o Messina’s at the Terminal
o Messina’s Runway Café

o The Rooftop on Basin

  • Post timely and brand-aligned content across Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok for each account.
  • Create and edit dynamic photo and video content highlighting catering presentations, behind-the-scenes prep, venue setups, weddings, galas, festivals, and milestone events.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments/messages, and support community-building across platforms.

Event Content Capture & Curation

  • Attend select events to capture high-quality photo/video content for marketing use.
  • Collect and organize vendor credits (photographers, planners, venues) for cross-promotional tagging.
  • Archive all media in an organized Dropbox system for easy access by team members.

Marketing & Branding Support

  • Collaborate on the development and execution of digital and print advertising campaigns.
  • Assist in the conceptualization and design oversight of branded materials, including signage, brochures, and sales kits.
  • Maintain and organize brand photography and marketing assets in Dropbox and shared folders.
  • Support execution of brand strategies for existing and new Messina’s venues and offerings.

Digital Strategy & Community Engagement

  • Monitor and respond to Google reviews with brand-appropriate messaging and customer care.
  • Research and coordinate with local and national content creators, food bloggers, and influencers to build meaningful partnerships.
  • Assist with SEO, social media advertising, and other efforts to increase online visibility.

Public Relations & Recognition Efforts

  • Contribute to the development of press releases, media kits, and pitches for local publications and media outlets.
  • Assist in identifying and submitting nominations for culinary competitions, community awards, and industry recognitions.
  • Coordinate with production teams for any TV, radio, or podcast appearances.

Internal Marketing & Communication

  • Collaborate on the creation of the monthly Messina’s News email newsletter, including copywriting, layout, and distribution.
  • Assist with internal announcements, staff recognition highlights, and recruitment marketing.

Marketing Logistics & Ordering

  • Manage and order branded promotional items, uniforms, menus, signage, and other marketing collateral for all properties.
  • Track inventory and coordinate deliveries to ensure timely replenishment across venues.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track and analyze social media performance, website traffic, and engagement metrics across all platforms.
  • Provide monthly reports and data-driven recommendations to enhance future marketing efforts.

Website Updates

  • Support routine website updates including blog posts, photo gallery updates, menu changes, and event listings.

Email Marketing

  • Assist in the development and deployment of promotional and informational email campaigns.

Client Testimonials & Case Studies

  • Gather client testimonials and event highlights to create social media content and event case studies for sales use.

Community Involvement & Networking

  • Support planning and execution of company participation in industry expos, networking mixers, and local community events.
  • Help identify sponsorship opportunities and develop marketing plans around them.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of event timelines and the fast-paced catering environment
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar content creation tools
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and analytics platforms
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable working on-site at events as needed, including evenings and weekends
  • Passion for hospitality, food, and community engagement

Experience/Knowledge:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment, Computer software associated with Image and Video Editing, Interview, and a variety of Social Media Platforms.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
  • Primary work at brick-and-mortar locations across the greater New Orleans area.

Working Conditions:

  • Generally, in an indoor setting, however, may be required to work outside from time to time to capture images / videos of events.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business.
