This is a full-time position based with remote work flexibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in social media management and/or public relations, preferably in the cannabis, consumer goods, or regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of growing social media audiences and executing successful PR campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of the cannabis market, including trends, consumer behavior, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different brands and audiences.
  • Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, scheduling platforms) and analytics software.
  • Experience with direct stakeholder engagement, including vendors and consumers, with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple brands simultaneously.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Certification in digital marketing or social media (e.g., Google Digital Garage, HubSpot).
  • Knowledge of SEO, email marketing, and influencer partnerships.
  • Familiarity with cannabis-specific tools or platforms for compliance monitoring.
  • Passion for cannabis culture and advocacy for responsible use.
Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management: Develop and execute social media strategies across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn) for multiple OPP brands. Create engaging content, including posts, stories, reels, and live sessions, while ensuring all content complies with cannabis industry regulations and platform guidelines.
  • Public Relations: Craft press releases, media pitches, and PR campaigns to promote brand launches, product updates, and company milestones. Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and industry partners to secure positive coverage and collaborations. Daily engagement with end consumer is an essential part of this business and will require a highly skilled communicator.
  • Vendor and Consumer Engagement: Serve as a point of contact for vendors, handling partnership inquiries, co-marketing opportunities, and feedback loops. Interact directly with end-use consumers via social media, email, and events to gather insights, resolve issues, and foster loyalty.
  • Content Creation and Strategy: Collaborate with marketing teams to produce high-quality visuals, videos, and written content tailored to each brand’s voice. Analyze performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or similar to optimize strategies and report on ROI.
  • Crisis Management: Monitor online conversations and respond promptly to potential PR issues, ensuring brand reputation is protected in a highly regulated industry.
  • Event Coordination: Support virtual and in-person events, such as product launches, trade shows, Pop-ups and consumer meet-ups, to enhance brand visibility and direct engagement.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Stay updated on cannabis advertising laws (e.g., state-specific regulations, OCM guidelines) and ensure all communications adhere to legal standards, including age-gating and responsible messaging.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., sales, product development, legal) to align social media and PR efforts with overall business goals.
