Bittersweet Farms is seeking a motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support our Social Recreation Program (SRP). This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact while maintaining a flexible, low-hour monthly schedule. This position averages 12 hours per month, including every SRP event and beginning in June will move to Day Time Summer camp hours. Why This Role Stands Out This is not a traditional direct care schedule. The SRP DSP position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in human services, education, and community programming while working only a few targeted events each month. Work Schedule & Availability Requirements SRP DSPs must be available for the following recurring program times: Second Friday of each month, 4–9 p.m. Most Wednesday evenings during the academic year Sunday and Monday afternoon/evening programming Last Tuesday evening of each month Occasional Thursday and Friday evenings Most events take place in the Toledo area, with additional programs held in Whitehouse and Waterville. Compensation & Benefits $16.50 per hour base rate Additional $1.50/hour weekday second-shift differential Additional $2.50/hour weekend differential Paid training, including a five-day orientation (scheduled across two days per week) Access to earned wages early Flexible monthly scheduling (typically 3–4 SRP events per month) Employee Resource Network (ERN) membership, Success Coach access, and EAP services Position Responsibilities Assist with and help lead a variety of SRP programs, including community outings, social skills groups, Friday Night Fun, parent nights, and other events. Support small-group activities and monitor participant engagement and progress. Practice effective risk management and ensure participant safety at all times. Provide direction and support to program volunteers. Model professionalism, positive communication, and effective teamwork. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid driver’s license and auto insurance Strong interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated empathy and patience Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and participants Availability for evenings and weekends as outlined above This role is an excellent fit for individuals interested in careers in social work, education, healthcare, criminal justice, direct care, human services, and related fields.
