JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly organized, results-driven Fees Team Manager to lead and structure our Fees Team within the Social Security department. This individual will play a mission-critical role in ensuring that our firm and our clients are paid accurately and efficiently by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The right candidate will have the autonomy to build out processes, lead a high-performing team, and take ownership of all fee-related functions.
This is a high-impact leadership role that will be highly compensated and incentivized based on performance, team outcomes, and recovery success. The ideal candidate will possess deep problem-solving skills and an ability to navigate complex SSA systems and roadblocks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required:
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a legal, governmental, or healthcare administrative environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Social Security Disability processes and the fee payment structure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate bureaucratic systems like SSA.
  • Proficient in case management and CRM systems (e.g., Needles, SmartAdvocate, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Prior experience managing SSA fee recovery processes or working directly with SSA.
  • Familiarity with SSA electronic payment systems (such as ePay, DAF, CPMS).
  • Legal administrative background or paralegal certification.
  • Accounts receivable or collections experience, especially in a high-volume or regulated environment.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Structure and organize the Fees Team to support long-term growth and performance.
  • Recruit, train, and manage team members to handle all aspects of the SSA payment and fee processes.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Operational Oversight
  • Develop and refine workflows for identifying, tracking, and resolving unpaid or underpaid fees from SSA.
  • Ensure timely and compliant processing of fee payments to the firm and disbursements to clients.
  • Monitor team performance metrics and implement process improvements to drive results.
  • Problem Solving & SSA Navigation
  • Serve as the point of escalation for complex or problematic SSA issues that impact payments or client disbursements.
  • Build relationships and maintain regular communication with SSA offices to resolve disputes or delays.
  • Stay current with SSA procedures, rules, and policy changes that may affect fee recovery.
  • Reporting & Compliance
  • Create and maintain reports that reflect fee collection efforts, outstanding payments, and trends.
  • Work closely with the accounting, compliance, and legal teams to ensure proper documentation and handling of all transactions.
  • Ensure team compliance with SSA regulations, attorney fee rules, and internal policies.
