Job Title: Social Studies Tutor General Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development, plans and facilitates collaborative social studies tutoring sessions for high school students. Major Duties:Meets regularly with the Director of Educational DevelopmentPlans and facilitates group and/or 1:1 high school social studies tutoring sessionsAssists students in the development of appropriate study skills, completion of homework and projects, and exploring topics of interest to the studentMaintains consistent communication the Director of Educational DevelopmentModels appropriate academic and social behaviorsPerforms other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levelsPossess good interpersonal and organizational skillsMust demonstrate responsibility, a desire to help others, discretion, and flexibilityKnowledge of academic content and skillsApplication of such knowledge and tools to help students access materialAbility to collect and analyze data to drive future instructionAbility to work independently applying critical thinking skills and problem solving to various situationsQualifications:Must have extensive teaching and/or tutoring experience in social studies
