Better With Company is a new, Perth-based social wellbeing service dedicated to helping older Australians feel connected, supported, and seen. We are launching in September and are building a friendly, passionate team of Companions who believe that connection is just as important as care.
Our mission is simple: reduce social isolation, bring meaningful human connection into people’s homes, and give families peace of mind.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Social Wellbeing Support Companion, you’ll provide non-clinical, in-home companionship for older adults. This role is about making everyday life feel lighter, brighter, and more connected — through meaningful conversations, shared activities, and genuine presence.
This is a casual position under the SCHADS Award (Home Care Employee stream). Multiple positions are available (1 per listed regions).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide companionship and conversation during in-home visits.
  • Support clients with hobbies, games, memory activities, and shared interests.
  • Assist with basic technology support (phones, tablets, video calls) to help clients stay connected with loved ones.
  • Facilitate wellbeing check-in phone calls for reassurance and family peace of mind.
  • Encourage independence and respect the dignity and choices of each client.
  • Report any concerns regarding client wellbeing, safety, or environment to supervisors.

As a Social Wellbeing Support Companion, your role will vary depending on each client’s needs and preferences. Typical visits may include:

  • Friendly In-Home Visits – Sharing conversation, hobbies, music, or simply providing company to brighten someone’s day.
  • Tech Help & Chats – Supporting clients with phones, tablets, and video calls so they can stay connected with family and friends.
  • Memory Games & Activities – Engaging clients with puzzles, board games, music, or reminiscence activities to keep minds active.
  • Wellbeing Phone Calls – Short check-in calls that provide reassurance for clients and peace of mind for families.
  • Keepsake Sorting & Scanning - Organising, scanning and preserving personal keepsakes
  • Life Story Capture - Capturing personal stories in audio or written for
