Description
The School of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh has a rich history of being committed to social justice, and excellent educational programs in a world-class research institution that is rooted in the Pittsburgh community. The Master of Social Work program aims to prepare graduate students in knowledge and skills that reflect the social work profession’s values. Grounded in the person-in-environment framework, the MSW generalist curriculum trains students to use the scientific inquiry process to think critically about issues that impact people and systems at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. This also entails training students to engage in culturally responsive practices that promote human rights and social justice. The MSW program is looking to hire adjunct faculty who hold an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution and have a minimum of two years post-MSW professional social work experience. Adjunct Instructors need to have working knowledge of theories that relate to human development, family formation, the procedures used to investigate problems and interventions, and understand systems that impact the quality of people’s lives across the lifespan. They should also have knowledge of the Western social welfare system and the mechanisms and structures that are used to solve social problems. Instructors are expected to create engaging and inclusive learning environments and demonstrate mastery of course content. Their schedules should allow them to meet with students as needed, attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required, and follow established program/institutional guidelines. The MSW program is committed to academic excellence and is looking for social work professionals who embody the values of the profession and can provide quality education.
