By providing participants with our suite of integrated services, we seek to provide any motivated young person with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to adulthood. The goal of The Door’s Career and Education Services Department is to support young people in completing secondary education and successfully transitioning into post-secondary education and employment. Programs within the Career and Education Services Department (CareerED) are designed to help young people, who are in school, out-of-school and out-of work, to assess, set, and obtain their educational and career goals. CareerED services specifically allow a young person to craft a personalized life plan defining the steps he/she will take to achieve those goals while developing the necessary skills for future life success and independence. The Advance and Earn Licensed Master Social Work is responsible for providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention supports, linkages to psychiatric supports, and other clinical services to Advance and Earn participants in our Bronx Youth Center and our NYC, Soho headquarters. Responsibilities: Conduct psychosocial assessments for Advance and Earn participants who need counseling services Provide short-term and long-term individual and group counseling to Advance and Earn participants using evidence-based modalities Formulate appropriate treatment plans and psychosocial evaluations for each participant seen, and document each contact Provide case coordination and crisis intervention to Advance and Earn participants who may be victims of abuse, neglect, sexual assault, or experiencing other trauma Coordinate with other providers including juvenile justice, Administration for Children’s Services, foster care agencies, etc. Develop and facilitate innovative support groups related to topics such as Anger Management, Stress Management, Substance Abuse Prevention, Healthy Relationships, and Parenting using evidence-based group curricula Coordinate mental health assessments and track outcomes of treatments using qualitative methods Facilitate mental health focused workshops and training for Advance and Earn participants and staff Collect and maintain all participant documentation, case management records, progress notes, and outcomes data as related to Advance and Earn program goals and contractual obligations. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with the Advance and Earn instructional team, training staff, placement staff, and college advisors to ensure participants’ education and career needs, interests, and goals are being met; participate in case conferencing. Participate in relevant departmental, agency, and external agency meetings, trainings, case conferences, workshops, and events. Handle any appropriate additional responsibilities and functions as assigned by Supervisor and/or Director. Qualifications: LMSW or LCSW required Minimum of two years of clinical experience in adolescent development, mental health counseling and/or substance abuse treatment settings Knowledge of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people Prior experience in a social service setting working with a multi-cultural young adult population Prior experience in working with a vulnerable youth population (foster care, court involved, runaway and homeless or teen parent, etc.) Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing innovative adolescent treatment modalities and group facilitation skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team Ability to closely collaborate with colleagues and function as part of a team to promote successful outcomes for youth Ability to model work readiness skills and appropriate workplace behavior at all times Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and multitask while adhering to deadlines Excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong computer skills required Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin helpful but not required Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week, occasional evening and weekend hours as needed Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually COVID -19 POLICY The Door follows the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
