QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience within an English Local Authority in a permanent role
  • Experience in child protection and/or family support work
  • Court work experience preferred

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • IT literate with experience in case management systems
  • Risk management and safeguarding expertise
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our team working within Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Family Support Teams, specializing in child protection and court work. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
This position is based in one of our Family Support Teams and requires a professional who can handle complex child protection cases and court proceedings. The role offers hybrid working arrangements, though the successful candidate must be available to undertake home visits and field work even on non-office days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a caseload of child protection and court work cases
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families
  • Develop and implement safeguarding plans and interventions
  • Represent cases in court proceedings as required
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Undertake home visits and community-based work
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation
  • Participate in case conferences and review meetings
  • Apply risk management principles in all aspects of work
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when working with families
