Overall job purpose

Reporting to the Practice Leader, you will contribute to the development and provision of a comprehensive social care service within a designated team in the Children’s Service:-

  • Undertake all statutory duties in respect of children in need, child protection and looked after children
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of working with children and their families
  • Manage a caseload of various levels of complexity, involving the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate action, contributing to the effective application of resources to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and their families
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, guidance, national standards and Departmental policies.

Depending on the successful candidate’s experience and ability to undertake practical social work at its most complex level, including proper assessment and management of risks, we look to appoint individuals who can:

  • Survey the casework of other team members in their first year of practice
  • Train and mentor colleagues in the service area or those working with the service ensuring professional development and continuous improvement at work.
  • Act as a resource for staff and managers to provide professional advice on individual cases.
  • Be involved in researching and promoting evidence-based practice.

Offer a range of interventions with the focus on getting solutions with individuals and families within a recovery, re-enabling and addressing quality of life model
