This is an exciting opportunity to work in a frontline service responding to child protection and welfare concerns within a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment.
As a Social Worker, you’ll carry a diverse caseload involving initial assessments, safety planning, and early interventions - playing a vital role in safeguarding children and supporting families through early-stage engagement.
This is an ongoing contract role (35hrs per week).

REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SOCIAL WORKER JOB:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised by CORU.
  • Must be registered with CORU.
  • Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience, ideally within child protection, child welfare, or early intervention services.
  • Understanding of Children First Guidelines, Child Care Act 1991, and relevant legislation.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential due to travel across the Cavan area.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely assessments of referrals received by the team in line with TUSLA’s National Approach to Practice (Signs of Safety).
  • Develop and implement safety plans and short-term interventions for families, ensuring that children’s welfare remains central.
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare professionals, An Garda Síochána, and other key stakeholders to inform assessments and promote joined-up responses.
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with children and families, supporting them to engage in the assessment process.
  • Maintain high-quality case notes, reports, and assessments in compliance with legal, policy, and organisational standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, supervision, and CPD activities as part of a professional, collaborative team.
