POSITION SUMMARY:

The Family Support & Navigation social worker will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides support, programs and services to families throughout Cumberland County. This term is covering a maternity leave. Among the duties/role of the social worker are the following:

• Short term counseling with families and individuals
• Coaching/mentoring in areas such as parenting, life skills, personal development
• Navigation/Coordination – link families with other supports and services as needed
• Group facilitation and workshop planning
• Youth engagement programming
• Family support and advocacy

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Social Work
• Registration (or eligibility) with the N.S. College of Social Workers
• Ability to work competently and cooperatively in a non-judgmental manner with families, co-workers and other community agencies
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability and willingness to meet challenges and adapt to changing situations
• Knowledge/experience in assessment and planning with individuals and families
• Knowledge of community development and collaboration
• Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation and eligible 2 million liability insurance with rider clause.
• Mostly in-person, some work from home available

  Pay: $48,558.00-$55,721.00 per year
