Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced and compassionate Children’s Social Worker to join our client in the North East of England. We are looking for a dedicated professional to become a part of a Fostering Team, with an initial focus on Kinship. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and young people in care. By joining the team, you will help them thrive in their foster families through creative and meaningful interventions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • 2+ years of social care experience.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to travel for work.
Responsibilities
  • Conducting statutory visits every six weeks and ensuring timely and accurate case recordings.
  • Collaborating with teams to create pathways and stepping stones towards independence, prioritising a young person-centred approach.
  • Preventing placement breakdowns by providing targeted support to children in care and their foster carers or hosts.
  • Delivering consistent supervision, support, and reviews, including attendance and presentations at the Fostering/Supported Lodgings Panel.
  • Demonstrating exceptional organisational and communication skills to meet deadlines and produce thorough written reports.
  • Following safeguarding procedures rigorously, escalating concerns appropriately, and contributing to the development of Foster Carers and Supported Lodgings Hosts through training sessions.
  • Promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, addressing their physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Working collaboratively within multi-professional teams to support children in thriving within kinship or mainstream foster families.
  • Building meaningful relationships with children, young people, their carers, and relevant professionals to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Undertaking direct work with children and carers on issues such as family conflict, breakdown, behaviour concerns, school attendance, emotional health, and risk of exploitation.
  • Supporting children and young people with a strengths-based, therapeutic approach.
  • Escorting, supervising, or transporting children when necessary, as part of planned interventions.
  • Discussing expenditure proposals with the budget holder and seeking approvals where required.
