REPORTS TO/TERM: Director of Social Emotional Development This is a 10-month position. Essential Key Functions: A Social Worker performs the following duties: Collaborate with Principals, Dean of Students, High School Counselor, SPED, School Nurse and Leadership Team to provide Social Services to students Collaborate on Behavior Intervention Plans Train school staff in drug, violence, trafficking, and trauma responsive practices Implement drug and violence prevention programs Maintain case files and report to track student progress and problems Collaborate on functional behavior assessments Assist in conducting threat assessments Educate students and school staff about bullying and harassment prevention Implement programs that support dropout prevention and re-entry Implement child sexual abuse awareness and prevention programs Provide social emotional learning regarding interventions that build resilience, self -control, empathy, persistence, and other social and behavioral skills Provide individual and group counseling to students Attend IEP conferences as necessary Attend all required staff meetings Work as a team member Behavior Intervention Suggestions Follows all school policies Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in School Social Work Valid Indiana License 3-5 years’ experience in an urban school environment
Responsibilities
The Social Worker collaborates with school staff to provide social services and implement programs that support student well-being and academic success. They also provide individual and group counseling, maintain case files, and educate staff and students on various prevention programs.
