The Social Work Department is comprised of 4 clinical teams and covers patients at St Vincent’s Hospital in Fitzroy, St George’s Hospital and Caritas Christi Hospice in Kew. You will also benefit from the support and guidance of the Social Work Manager and the Social Work Senior Team. About the Role An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 4 Social Worker to join our team on a fixed term, full-time basis. Accountable to the Social Work Manager this position is responsible for fostering clinical excellence in Social Work services across acute, sub-acute and palliative care settings and more broadly, through social work service development, clinical education, supervision and research. This position will be responsible for contributing to the department’s professional development program including working collaboratively with clinical educators in delivering strategic direction and evaluation, competency and credentialing, and student programs. This role will also provide expert social work leadership and carries clinical, program and service development responsibilities across three campus’ (SVHM, St George’s Health Service (SGH) and Caritas Christi Hospice (CCH). The incumbent will foster social work excellence and innovation through delivering and implementing evidence-based practice, and leading quality improvement initiatives . Practice will be guided by the strategic directions of Allied Health, SVHM, SVHA and the mission and values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. Main Duties Provide expert and authoritative consultation and direction to staff and students, professional recommendations using clinical judgement, and innovative solutions regarding clinical practice Demonstrate leadership skills and respond to clinical complexity and risk via consultation and/or direct practice Foster a culture of clinical excellence and evidence-based practice Work collaboratively with Allied Health Interdisciplinary clinical educators to inform and prioritise social work clinician learning needs, identify knowledge gaps and prepare the workforce for future service demands Actively promote, coordinate and mentor projects, research related activities, submissions and strategic initiatives on behalf Social Work, Allied Health and SVHM Monitor, review and evaluate the Social Work Education, Student Unit and New Graduate programs Manage human and material resources effectively and efficiently including the completion of operational duties as directed by the Social Work Manager, including participation in recruitment and performance reviews Qualifications, Skills and Experience A Bachelor Degree or Qualifying Masters in Social Work is essential A post-graduate qualification in Social Work is highly desirable Significant social work experience (10+ years) is essential Benefits of being an SVHM staff member Central location – with excellent public transport links to all SVHM sites Bike storage and showering facilities A strong focus on employee wellbeing including the Employee Assistance Program and in-house STAR support available 24 hours a day Salary Packaging Application Please attach your resume and cover letter to your application.
