Your Opportunity:
South Health Campus (SHC) services Calgary and the surrounding rural areas and was designed as a referral centre for Southern Alberta. SHC operational philosophy has been built on Four Pillars: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The Allied Health Department works collaboratively with all the clinical teams spread across the South Health Campus. The present caseload for this casual position is within the acute care inpatients units as well as within a variety of outpatient clinics at SHC (e.g., Medicine, Respiratory, Neurosciences, Bone and Joint, Cardiac, and Surgical). Shifts may also be offered in the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit as needed/appropriate. Under general supervision from the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, this Social Worker II position is primarily responsible to providing direct patient care responsible for the psychosocial assessment and treatment of patients referred to this service as well as development, implementation and evaluation of individual treatment programs according to professional practice standards. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. The successful incumbent will be expected to provide 2-3 weeks availability for initial orientation and subsequently be able to commit to a minimum of 1-2 weekday/daytime shifts of ongoing availability, as well as the availability to work over peak times such as summer vacation and other holiday periods. Some weekend shifts may be available after full orientation.
