SOCIAL WORKER – INDIGENOUS EDUCATION
1.0 FTE Permanent position
The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Social Worker – Indigenous Education. Reporting to the Manager of Social Work Services and Interim Principal of Indigenous Education, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting schools in the development and implementation of preventative and promotional strategies that address student well-being for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. The Social Worker will provide individual and group counselling for students, consultative services to schools, students, and families, liaise with community agencies, provide general resource information to multi-disciplinary teams, maintain statistical data and documentation, provide suicide and violent risk assessment, and support school communities that have been impacted by a traumatic event.
The successful candidate will be assigned to school locations throughout the county. Geographic areas are subject to change based on the needs of the students.
