Position is a Social Worker located at NC Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1,776 of minimum, medium, or close custody female offenders. This position reports to Social Worker Supervisor III. The Social Worker I will provide specialized social work case management to offenders who have behavioral, mental, emotional, and physical disorders. Services offered consist of individual and group counseling, crisis and preventive intervention, community resource referrals, and re-entry planning. Provide social work services in complex cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Eighty-five (85) percent of women in prison are mothers and the primary focus of this position is working with offenders to address their children’s issues and providing in depth assessment of their family dynamics. Work will consist of collaborating with the Department of Social Services in all 100 countries in North Carolina and in others states where the offenders’ children reside and contacting other ancillary personnel such as school counselors and social workers, group home and foster care personnel, as well as the Court. Work Schedule This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with https://oshr.nc.gov/state-employee-resources/benefits. The selected candidate will work Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Hours may vary at times depending on the business needs of the facility. North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary prison for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.
