POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Worker plays a vital role in providing psychosocial support, case management, and advocacy for clients navigating mental health, housing instability, reentry from incarceration, and substance use recovery. This role collaborates closely with our peer workforce, clinical teams, and community partners to ensure person-centered, trauma-informed care that aligns with the Painted Path™ Recovery Model. Licensure is not required for this position; however, candidates with an MSW or clinical license (ASW, LCSW, AMFT, LMFT, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience working with individuals impacted by SMI, homelessness, substance use, or justice involvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and harm reduction principles.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and person-centered care.
  • Minimum 2 years of social worker experience in a non-profit or related setting.
  • Experience with grant-funded programs, reporting, and compliance.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, with a strong preference for experience using Exym.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A peer-centered approach to intervention and strong collaborative skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills/experience.
  • Conduct outreach to obtain eligible and non-eligible Medi-Cal program participants as needed.
  • Professional demeanor while representing the organization at meetings, events, or client sites.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders in-person and remotely.
  • Have knowledge of the California Human Services landscape, community mental health systems, forensic treatment services, and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Ability to work with staff and community members from diverse racial, sexual orientation, gender identity and cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, including populations with re-entry, mental health, and substance use challenges.

PREFERRED - NON-ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW) or related clinical field.
  • Licensure (ASW, LCSW, AMFT, LPCC) or license-eligible.
  • Experience delivering ECM or similar whole-person care services.
  • Familiarity with CalAIM, Medi-Cal documentation, and DHCS standards.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, ASL, or other community language).

PHYSICAL AND ENDURANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods, during driving or public transit commutes.
  • Ability to carry personal items or job-related materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, or reach as needed for tasks such as filing, organizing, or setting up equipment.
  • Ability to climb stairs or use ramps when elevators are unavailable.
  • Capacity to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to push or pull carts, equipment, or materials, if applicable.
  • Adequate vision for tasks requiring focus, such as reading documents, screens, or labels.
  • Hearing ability sufficient for understanding verbal communication in person, over the phone, or via video conferencing.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, such as evacuating a building or assisting others in need.
  • Physical readiness for occasional high-energy demands, such as helping set up events or responding to critical situations.
