JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a private practice in the Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk and Oxford area and are seeking a Clinical Therapist or Social Worker to join our team. Great Lakes Counselling & Consultation Services is committed to providing services which are inclusive, culturally aware, follows an anti-oppressive practice framework, is trauma informed, person centered and strengths based. We offer individual, couples and family counselling to children, youth and adults. In addition to counselling, we provide consultation services to employers including investigations, training, workshops and education.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Social Worker or Psychotherapist to join our team as an independent contractor offering in person and virtual appointments. As a member of the clinical team, you will work with short-term and long-term referrals providing individual, couple and family counselling, as well as training and workshops.
Minimum of 2 years of experience and training in using therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy. You have experience with developing and facilitating training/workshops on various topics such as Mental Health, Addiction, and Psychological Safety.
Understanding of Anti-Oppressive principles and experience working with Indigenous populations is an asset. The ability to speak other languages is also an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Engage children, youth, adults, couples and families in individual and family counselling.
  • Use multiple interventions to meet the needs of the individuals
  • Document case notes, complete initial assessments and treatment plans within a specified time period.
  • Develop clinical formulations and assessments for individuals, assess clinical needs and symptoms and develop a client-centered intervention plan.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate workshops
  • Graduate degree in Counselling, Therapy, Clinical Social Work and/or equivalent
  • Registration as an RP, RSW or equivalent with relevant experience of 2 years post Masters
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • Advanced understanding of anti-oppressive practice, strength-based interventions, and culturally relevant therapeutic interventions.
  • Clear understanding of mental health, trauma, addictions, psychological safety
  • Strong written and oral skills.
