Your New Role and Responsibilities As a Capability Manager based in Canberra, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of IT Infrastructure, managing and maintaining Defence’s key IT services. You will lead a high performing team, empowering operational administration, providing technical guidance, and driving service improvement initiatives for groups of technical SMEs. Your focus will be on delivering a customer-centric methodology to support and service request fulfillment, managing and improving ICT service delivery to meet and exceed customer expectations, and maintaining ICT support operational SLAs, policies, and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Lead and empower a team of IT professionals to deliver complex enterprise IT solutions, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and efficient services that support core business operations. Oversee end-to-end service delivery, monitor performance against SLAs, metrics, and KPIs, and manage escalations and major incidents with effective technical and customer engagement. Build and maintain vendor and customer relationships, including contract negotiations, financial tracking, and performance reviews to meet service level expectations. Drive continuous service improvement by collaborating with internal IT groups and business stakeholders, identifying efficiencies within IT operations. Influence and negotiate across a broad stakeholder group, balancing diverse expectations and priorities to achieve strategic outcomes. About You and What You'll Bring Proven leadership and mentoring experience in large enterprise environments, with a proactive approach to understanding business needs and building strong relationships. Demonstrated success in implementing Continual Service Improvement initiatives and navigating the interfaces between IT Support and the Systems Engineering Lifecycle. ITIL v3/4 certified, with additional qualifications in ITIL Service Life Cycle or Service Capability modules highly regarded. Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage concurrent activities, dependencies, and risks effectively. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement. This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a NV-1 level security clearance.
