This is a full-time position for a candidate who is excited about developing details of Purple’s innovative, home comfort products. This developer will work alongside various members of the Purple Innovations team of industrial designers, sewing technicians, quality specialists, product and merchandising gurus, and others, all under the guidance of the Sr. Manager of Product Development for Pillows, Cushions and other HEP products. Tasks will center around understanding design intent for different products, aiding in creating prototypes for demonstration and testing, and providing support in creating assets for tech packs. The ideal candidate will bring with them a motivation and passion for developing technically sound products that offer the best user experience in the home comfort industry.
This position will work out of our Innovations center in Draper, UT.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• 1+ years working in soft goods/textile or hard goods product development for home goods, apparel, or related industry
• Skilled with digital tools and related soft goods development software (Adobe Illustrator, ProCreate, Gerber Accumark, other CAD programs, etc.)
• Prototyping skills and thorough experience working with foams, textiles and our own HEP
• Willingness and enthusiasm to jump in on any design and development related project
• Ability to work on several projects at one time under strict time constraints
• Affinity for consistency, color, and a keen eye for subtle but impactful details
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and similar computer programs
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a big plus!
• Textile design experience also a plus

• Develop original Purple products according to design intent
• Collaborate with product managers, product and merchandising teams, supply chain, and other teams to brainstorm ideas and solve product development challenges
• Participate in regular brainstorming sessions and provide feedback on individual projects
• Craft 2D and 3D visuals, models, and presentations to communicate ideas and concepts
• Create technical drawings, renderings, and accurate tech pack assets to clearly communicate manufacturing specifications and product details
• Provide support in assembling prototypes for user testing and samples for manufacturers
• Be willing to share recommendations for best product performance and manufacturability
• Ensure all product development processes are done a timely manner to meet deadlines
• Help maintain and organize materials, product sample library, and other product development materials, both tangible and digital assets
