Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to join our team. This internally focused role is critical to establishing and maintaining a robust SAM function within a greenfield environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, designing, and delivering the entire spectrum of an internal SAM service, including processes, procedures, tools, and governance. The organisation is a heavy Microsoft user with a 3-year enterprise agreement, and also utilises a wide range of SaaS services including Azure and AWS. Therefore, experience in FinOps and cost optimization is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SAM strategy and framework from the ground up.
  • Define and document SAM policies, processes, and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
  • Select and implement appropriate SAM tools and technologies to support asset tracking and compliance.
  • Establish governance and control mechanisms to ensure software compliance and license optimisation.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and IT teams to manage software lifecycle and vendor relationships.
  • Monitor and report on software usage, compliance status, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits related to software licensing.
  • Provide training and awareness programmes to internal stakeholders on SAM practices.
  • Stay updated with software licensing trends, vendor policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Microsoft enterprise agreement and ensure compliance and optimisation of Microsoft licensing.
  • Support FinOps initiatives by analysing cloud usage and identifying cost optimisation opportunities across Azure and AWS.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in Software Asset Management within an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in implementing SAM tools and managing software inventories.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead initiatives in a greenfield setting.
  • Experience managing Microsoft licensing and enterprise agreements.
  • Familiarity with SaaS management and cloud cost optimisation (FinOps) practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSAM, ITIL, or equivalent are desirable.
