Description We are looking for a Software / Cloud Engineer to help design, build, and scale the cloud and backend systems that power our OXA autonomous vehicle platform. You’ll work closely with autonomy, robotics, data, and infrastructure teams to enable real-time vehicle operations, large-scale data processing, simulation, and continuous deployment of autonomy software. This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and autonomous vehicle technology—ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex, real-world problems at scale. This role will require you to be on-site in Jacksonville, FL on occasion. Ideal candidates will live within driving distance of Jacksonville. What You’ll Do Design and build scalable cloud services to support autonomous vehicle operations, data ingestion, storage, and analytics Experience with supporting and troubleshooting distributed web services using the following technologies: Google Cloud Platform services, specifically GKE, CloudRun, CloudSQL; Message-based architectures, specifically RabbitMQ; APIs and related technologies, specifically ReST, gRPC, Protobuffers; and Databases and related technologies: GCP Cloud SQL, PostgreSQL. Develop backend systems for fleet management, telemetry, monitoring, and over-the-air (OTA) updates Build and maintain high-availability, low-latency distributed systems Support large-scale data pipelines for sensor data (LiDAR, camera, radar) used in training and simulation Monitor, optimize, and secure cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotations as needed Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 3+ years of experience in backend, platform, or cloud engineering Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++ Experience building and operating services on major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and cloud-native architectures Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and message queues/streaming systems Preferred Qualifications Experience working in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or real-time systems Knowledge of data pipelines, big data tools, or ML infrastructure Experience with simulation platforms or large-scale compute workloads Familiarity with safety-critical or high-reliability systems Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation)
