CRM Software is developed using state-of-the-art, industry-standard technologies and is used by clinicians and patients globally. As a Software Cloud Engineer II on the CRM Software team, you will develop applications that interface with Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and enable remote management of patients.
We are looking for a talented Cloud Engineer II for our Scalable Compute team in Cardiac Rhythm Software division. As a Cloud Engineer II, you will be responsible for the health, observability, and maintainability of our production environment as well as the associated auxiliary components that drive our day-to-day business. An ideal candidate will have a background in cloud native technologies plus system, network, and storage administration, and programming.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of technical experience

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Software Cloud Engineer II role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Operate and enhance a Kubernetes platform using AWS EKS, Flux, Istio, and Kubecost.
  • Implement GitOps workflows and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Helm.
  • Monitor and improve system health, performance, and observability across environments.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers and application teams to deliver scalable compute solutions.
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and agile ceremonies.
  • Contribute to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and platform self-service capabilities.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure production reliability by proactively monitoring services, responding to incidents, and driving resolution for capabilities owned by the team
  • Support cost optimization and resource efficiency using tools like Kubecost and AWS Cost Explorer
