We are seeking an Software Developer and Data Science Expert for Lab Automation our Testing, Analytics & Physics (TAP) department in Waalwijk. TAP provides critical analytical and scientific expertise to support R&D, application technology, and sustainability goals, including circular economy initiatives and next-generation materials development.
In this role, you will develop and maintain the competence of software development and data science within testing, analytics, and physics to apply for automation and digitalization projects in the laboratories.

Responsibilities
  • Support: You will be responsible and pivotal in the full process of laboratory digitalization and automation in an analytical and physical chemistry environment as part of multidisciplinary teams (local and global).
  • Software Developer: Design and implement complex tailor-made software applications, digital workflows, and automation solutions.
  • Device/Machine/Sensor Integration: Identify and implement solutions for data collection and analysis, enabling real-time monitoring of experiments and processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Lab Automation: Deploy and maintain automation solutions to streamline lab processes, including sample preparation and test automation.
  • IoT Platform Implementation: Implement and maintain IoT platforms tailored to the specific needs of our analytical lab, ensuring seamless integration with existing lab equipment and related systems (e.g., Electronic Lab Notebook and Chromatography Data Management Systems).
  • Artificial Intelligence: Create and apply concepts for innovative AI (Machine Learning, Large Language Models) solutions, including the choice of models, technical architecture, definition of data requirements, training procedures, etc.
  • Harmonize Experimental Methods: Ensure lab automation to gain effectiveness, facilitate easy data exchange, and improve data quality, thus contributing to the continuous improvement of workflow efficiency.
  • QESH Compliance: Execute the job within the applicable QESH structure and system, provide proposals for further enhancing the QESH structure and system, and contribute to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for employees.
  • Project Participation: Participate in and lead multidisciplinary projects.
