ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

  • Technology Digital and Innovation (TDI) is a business area to the client whose goal is to support our technology roadmap.
  • Technology will continue to improve safety, reduce the carbon footprint from our operations and enable new, future-oriented, and sustainable business models.
  • The Design, Software and Data science (DSD) unit in TDI is responsible for being at the forefront of these 3 areas and integrating them into the clients value chain.
  • We are looking for skilled software developers to join DSD Competence Center 2, which is mainly based in Bergen.
  • We develop software supporting various business context, such as subsurface exploration, drilling and wells, offshore wind farms, and renewable solutions.
  • We believe that software development is a craft that requires time and care.
  • We embrace agile methodologies and lean principles.Many of our solutions are open source and we aim to increase that number.


    • The candidate will join the SCOUT team, who develops software for uncertainty modelling of reservoirs and wind farms.

    • The main effort is towards ERT (Ensemble based Reservoir Tool), an internally developed open-source project, that is used for both workflow management and data analysis by our engineers.
    • The current focus of the team spans everything from improving the user experience of the software, to data visualisation, workflow, and data management in an HPC setting, migrating the solution to Azure and user support.

    The candidate is expected to participate in the team activities, which include:

    • Developing high quality software component in accordance with Software Craftsmanship best practices.
    • Participate in code reviews and pair programming.
    • Contribute to technical discussion and knowledge sharing with fellow team members.
    • Live by the “I am safety” expectations and be a role model for the company core values (Open, Collaborative, Caring, Courageous).
    • Contribute to the culture of the team which produces high-quality valuable software through professionalism, technical excellence and social safety.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Extensive experience working with large software systems that have existed over time.
    • Extensive Python, C or C++ development in a professional setting.
    • Experience with git (or another source control system).
    • Experience with moving software solutions to new infrastructures is beneficial.
    • Experience with compute or data intensive applications is beneficial.
