DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Software Developer to work on Cyber Operations and Incidence Response team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
In this position you will develop innovative engineered solutions using current and emerging computing technologies. Apply experience in software and hardware engineering principles, theories, concepts, and technologies with complex engineered systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • EX3: Bachelor’s and 5 years of experience. Master’s and 2 years of experience. PhD and 2 years of experience.
  • EX4: Bachelor’s and 9 years of experience. Master’s and 6 years of experience. PhD and 4 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of assembly (x86/x64, and others)
  • C/C++ development experience
  • Reverse Engineering / Vulnerability Research
  • Knowledge of vulnerability types and patterns
  • Linux (comfortable in a *NIX shell)Documentation (strong technical writing skills)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” / SCI clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities
  • Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complex analytical processes and information display and visualization.
  • Plan, develop and implement software-engineering solutions to complex problems and major projects.
  • Work to support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities.
  • Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions to customers and management’s needs.
  • Maintain and upgrade a variety of systems, as well as develop new software capabilities.
  • Create and review new methodologies and architectures that advance the organizations’ mission.
  • Ensure Compliance with INL’s safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.
  • Document activities, reports, existing technologies.
  • Write and present technical papers representing INL.
  • Review and analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and implications of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and emerging technologies.
  • Utilize expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.
  • Review training plans and help lead the organization forward.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
