We are seeking a Software Developer intern to support our Transportation Security Administration (TSA) customer. This is a temporary, hybrid position located in Reston, VA Work location: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite) in our corporate office in Reston, VA. Background investigation: Must be a US Citizen to successfully complete a government issued background check (must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years). Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 1 – August 6, 2026 Hours: 32 hours per week Summary: This internship will assist with ongoing operations, maintenance, and next-generation software development for kiosk and automated e-gate systems. This internship blends hands-on hardware exposure, field experience, and real-world software engineering work—ideal for Computer Science students seeking both technical depth and operational insight. Education: Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or other relevant studies. Must be a current junior, senior or graduate student in college at the time of application submittal. Key Responsibilities Hardware O&M Support: Assist the team in resolving hardware-related service tickets. Coordinate replacement parts shipments or schedule field technicians for onsite repairs. Track ticket status and help maintain documentation. Field Experience: Accompany senior technicians to Reagan National Airport to observe live kiosk operations. Learn how systems function in the field, including troubleshooting and customer interactions. Software Development: Contribute to kiosk and enterprise software used across multiple partner organizations. Work with tools including Java, Spring, .NET, Git, and standard development pipelines. Basic Qualifications Experience with Java and familiarity with Spring. Knowledge of Git or similar version control tools. Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn in both software and field-operational settings. Preferred Skills Exposure to .NET, REST APIs, or systems integration. Interest in biometrics, airport systems, or hardware/software interfacing. What You’ll Gain Real-world experience supporting mission-critical hardware and enterprise software.
