SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - JUNIOR:

On behalf of our Government Services sector client, Procom is searching for a Software Developer - Junior for a 6-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - JUNIOR - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The project involves ensuring compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and enhancing website accessibility under the AODA. The role includes developing custom WordPress themes and plugins, conducting accessibility audits, and generating Google Analytics reports for site usage analysis.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - JUNIOR - MANDATORY SKILLS:

• Strong experience in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
• Highly proficient in WCAG 2.2 / website accessibility requirements under the AODA.
• Experience with accessibility tools & technologies across various devices.
• Strong experience in Google Analytics.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - JUNIOR – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

• IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
• Experience in structured methodologies for application development.
• Knowledge of AODA regulations and related accessibility standards.
• Ability to provide user and system documentation.

• Ensure website is 100% AODA compliant.
• Perform an audit of the website to identify issues related to WCAG compliance and remediate.
• Develop queries for Google Analytics to generate monthly site usage reports.
• Collaborate with Ministry teams for WCAG Level A and Level AA conformance testing.
• Provide knowledge transfer, training, and upskilling to ministry teams upon request.
