Description

We’re currently looking for a Software Developer to join our growing team of engineering and ergonomics professionals to ensure seamless development, integration, deployment, and quality assurance of software systems. This role will support the development and maintenance of manufacturing control systems within the Automation and Controls Engineering (ACE) and Manufacturing Controls Systems (MCS) platform. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that supports digital manufacturing initiatives.

In your day to day activities, you’ll work with multiple customers, as a consultant and trusted partner in Sandalwood’s areas of expertise of Injury Prevention, Systems Engineering & Systems Integration. You’ll help customers innovate, solve their current struggles and guide them with the power of Sandalwood’s deeply ingrained subject matter expertise.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, or HMI development
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial automation environments
  • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms and edge computing
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
    Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and implementing software for manufacturing control systems
  • Developing and maintaining automation scripts, PLC interfaces, and HMI applications
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, system architects, and plant operations
  • Participating in Agile Ceremonies and maintaining backlog items
  • Ensuring code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation
  • Provides weekly updates of completed backlog and deliverables
  • Functional and tested software modules
  • Technical documentation and user guides
  • Participation in code reviews and sprint retrospectives
