The National Security Sector is seeking a highly motivated and tactical Software Development (SME) supporting Leidos Homeland and Force Protection Business Area division FBI portfolio. The candidate will support our Agile DevSecOps contract and be responsible for understanding customer needs to create applications. The ideal candidate will possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, be a strong team player, and can establish solid working relationships with technical staff and peers within the division, as well as our external Government customers. Experience in communications, Agile, and DevSecOps; hardware/software fabrication; Cloud, platform system integration; and/or test and evaluation is a plus.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:

  • 12+ years of experience as a Backend, Full Stack, or Java Developer, specializing in the development, testing, and deployment of backend (Java, JavaScript, Go, Python) and frontend (JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET) software.
  • Expertise in using the latest Java Development Kit for Java software and implementing backend frameworks such as Java Spring, Node.js, Go Gin, React, Next.js, NestJS, Hibernate, and Struts.
  • Proficient in Agile development, software design patterns, system design, and development tools (Git, IDEs, code quality tools).
  • Strong experience in API design, troubleshooting, and resolving technical, functional, and performance issues.
  • Proven leadership in guiding teams through technical design and implementation.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities
  • Develops codes, tests, and debugs new software or enhancements to existing software. Has good understanding of business applications as well as user, performance, quality, interface, and security requirements.
  • Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them. Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
  • May assist in the development of software user manuals.
  • Responsible for desktop design, testing, security lockdown implementation, integration with standard software packages, integration with automated patching and deployment technologies, documentation, and training to include automating application and configuration deployments and updates.
