The Meta/SEM Bidding Programs team at Expedia Group is looking for a Software Development Engineer II who collaborates with peers to build scalable solutions, applies solid software engineering principles to improve existing systems, and contributes to well-defined projects while supporting more complex initiatives. In this role, you will: Collaborate with team members to co-develop and solve problems. Proactively engage with peers across the organization to build relationships and solve shared challenges. Take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in specific engineering areas. Seek knowledge from subject matter experts when needed. Understand the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features involved in the integration process. Develop and test standard software applications and related programs to ensure they meet design requirements. Apply software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, maintainable, optimized, and modular code with clear naming conventions. Apply knowledge of database design to meet data requirements. Help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions. Think broadly and understand how, why, and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization. Complete tasks and provide data to support holistic solutions that integrate structure, people, process, and technology. Apply formal training methods to current workload and feel comfortable challenging the status quo. Report clearly on current work status and ask challenging questions when empowered to do so. Experience and Qualifications: 2+ years of experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree; 0–2 years for candidates with a Master’s degree. Experience developing software in a team environment of at least 5 engineers (agile methodologies, version control, etc.). Built and maintained software projects/products in production environments within public or hybrid cloud infrastructure. Strong proficiency in one programming language and moderate familiarity with others. Familiarity with multiple data stores, API access patterns, and integration techniques. Understanding of associated technologies within their specialization as part of the broader ecosystem. Ability to comprehend how projects fit together within the team and understand moderately complex systems. Ability to test and monitor own code effectively. Familiarity with data pipelines and orchestrators such as Argo Workflows, Airflow, or Flyte. Knowledge of testing and monitoring tools. Understanding of Kubernetes. Awareness of how team goals align with business needs. Programming languages: Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, SQL.
