Piper Companies is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for an Education Technology and Services company located in Chapel Hill, NC. The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will apply knowledge and skills to help identify and fix issues in code while helping to automate the frameworks. The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role is remote working EST or CST hours and is a Contract to Hire Opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER IN TEST (SDET):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of SDET experience with strong coding and software quality skills
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
  • Strong AWS experience (Lamda, CloudFormation, Glue etc..)
  • Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, and test automation for web apps and microservices
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks (Modular, Keyword-Driven, Data-Driven, Hybrid)
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with DevOps tools
Responsibilities
  • Partner with engineers to understand software features, debug code, and automate repetitive tasks
  • Design and implement new tools and frameworks to streamline the quality assurance process
  • Collaborate with teams to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test cases
  • Plan, create, automate, and execute API, functional, and non-functional test cases
  • Identify, log, and track defects; troubleshoot test failures across sprints
  • Provide transparency to stakeholders by presenting test artifacts and results
  • Perform exploratory and automation testing to ensure high test coverage
  • Produce consistent, high-quality automation code with extensive unit, API, and regression test coverage
