Description
SAIC is seeking a senior Software Development Team Lead to support the USAF Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFMS). This is a fully remote, mission-critical role focused on delivering scalable web-based Modeling & Simulation (M&S) training and analysis solutions for the USAF and DoD. The role blends hands-on technical leadership with Agile delivery, team mentorship, and client engagement. Target salary is $150-155k. (Please note this position is funded through March 2026 and most likely will push through June 2026). Primary Focus Areas Lead and mentor a cross-functional software development team Architect, build, and maintain complex web applications Drive Agile/Scrum execution and delivery Serve as technical interface between development teams and government stakeholders Ensure software quality, scalability, and security through modern DevSecOps practices Key Responsibilities Technical leadership across full-stack web applications Hands-on development, debugging, and optimization (Node.js, REST APIs, Docker) Agile sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery management CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance Team mentoring, delegation, and conflict resolution Translate USAF/DoD requirements into technical deliverables Implement best practices for testing, performance, and security Core Technical Stack Backend: Node.js, REST APIs, PHP Frontend: Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB Infrastructure: Docker, CI/CD pipelines Web: Apache HTTP Server Optional/Value-Add: LMS/LRS systems (SCORM, xAPI, cmi5; Moodle, Rustici) Leadership Profile Proven people leader with mentoring experience Strong delegation, feedback, and team-building skills Comfortable resolving team and technical conflicts Leads by example with hands-on technical involvement Requirements US Citizen with active Secret Clearance Bachelor’s and nine (9) or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree Experience supporting DoD or mission-focused programs preferred Agile & Delivery Strong experience leading Agile teams Sprint planning, execution, reviews, and continuous improvement Emphasis on predictable delivery and quality outcomes
