We are looking for a Software Engineer at ABB Oy Marine & Ports division, Marine Systems Service, Engineering team. Marine Systems Service delivers propulsion system modernizations, shore to ship connections, and energy storage systems for vessels. The engineering team assesses existing installations, proposes new solutions for life cycle extensions, assists sales and engineers state of art systems. Position will be located in Helsinki (Vuosaari) or Turku. The position requires international travelling including US.

This position reports to Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility of control automation scope in service projects, for example modernizations of propulsion control system or electric energy storage system
• PLC programming ABB 800M product family including 800xA integrated automation system

HMI engineering

• Assisting in preparing functional description for application and other documentation
• Close co-operation with the Project Manager, Lead Engineer and HW Engineer
• Onsite commissioning and acceptance testing
• Factory acceptance testing with customer and classification society
• Sales support, for example defining technical scopes
• In addition, service visits, remote support and fault tracing

Your background:

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science
• Experience of commissioning or engineering
• Structured text PLC programming experience
• Experience of ABB automation products, such as 800xA and 800M product family
• Ideally you have an understanding and knowledge of marine electric propulsion systems or marine power and energy management system with batteries
• Knowledge of old ABB automation products such as Selma, AC70, AC80 or AC110 is beneficial
• Electric work certificate is an asset
• Willingness and ability to travel approx. 100 days per year
• Good communication skills
• Fluent English skills are mandatory, Finnish language skills are an advantage
