Description

About the Role
Join us to build real, measurable operational improvements for our portfolio companies. You’ll pair sharp analytical thinking with AI-assisted development (Cursor, Claude, Copilot, etc.) to prototype, ship, and iterate quickly. This is a hands-on, impact-first role where you’ll talk with business users, understand pain points, and deliver software that moves the needle.

What You’ll Do

  • Build operational tools (data pipelines, internal apps, automations) that remove bottlenecks across multiple companies.
  • Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery—speed and problem-solving > rote syntax.
  • Map and analyze processes, spot inefficiencies, and propose pragmatic fixes.
  • Prototype fast, iterate faster—ship MVPs, measure outcomes, refine.
  • Partner with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, demo solutions, and drive adoption.
  • Quantify impact—baseline → intervention → lift, and communicate results clearly.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Degree: Bachelor’s or higher in Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related quantitative field (Master’s an asset).
  • Canadian academic standing: First-Class / A- average (≈ 80%+) or Dean’s Honours (roughly 3.7+/4.0 or 3.8+/4.33).
  • Strong communication skills (required):
  • • Clear written docs (one-pagers, PRDs, readmes) and concise stakeholder updates.
  • Confident verbal communication—can demo, negotiate scope, and translate tech to business.
  • Analytical problem-solver who can break down ambiguous problems into testable steps.
  • Some coding exposure (coursework/projects); comfortable using AI tools to write and refactor code.
  • Curiosity and speed—bias to action, rapid learning, and evidence-based decisions.

Preferred

  • Python, SQL, or JavaScript experience (projects, co-op, capstone).
  • Data analysis/optimization/simulation exposure.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude/Copilot/Cursor).
  • Internship or co-op in consulting, finance, ops, or tech.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • AI-first delivery: Build faster than traditional teams by leaning into modern agents and copilots.
  • Immediate business impact: Your software affects operations and profitability-quickly.
  • Variety: Different industries, datasets, and ops challenges-no two weeks the same.
  • Mentorship from experienced operators and technologists.

Communication Is Core (What “Strong” Means Here)

  • Discovery: Run crisp requirements calls; confirm success criteria in writing.
  • Docs: Ship short, structured briefs (Problem → Approach → Risks → Metrics).
  • Demos: Tell a clear story: baseline → solution → impact, with live walkthroughs.
  • Change management: Write release notes, onboarding checklists, and quick-start guides that non-technical users love.
  • Stakeholder alignment: Propose trade-offs and timelines without jargon.

We welcome brilliant problem-solvers from diverse backgrounds—if you can communicate clearly, learn fast, and deliver with AI, you’ll thrive here
