Description
Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager, operating in all liquid asset classes across the world. We are a technology and data driven group implementing a scientific approach to investing. Combining data, research, technology and trading expertise has shaped QRT’s collaborative mindset which enables us to solve the most complex challenges. QRT’s culture of innovation continuously drives our ambition to deliver high quality returns for our investors. We are looking for a Software Engineer – Atlassian Specialist to join our Technology team in Zurich. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, data engineering, and infrastructure automation — enabling our research and trading teams to operate efficiently and scale intelligently. At QRT, technology plays a mission-critical role in our investment process. You will contribute to building and maintaining systems that underpin the entire research and trading lifecycle — from data acquisition and model development to execution and post-trade analysis. Your work will directly support quantitative researchers and portfolio managers, helping them iterate faster, manage risk more effectively, and unlock new alpha opportunities through better automation and tooling. You will partner with quantitative researchers, software engineers, and IT operations to build and maintain internal platforms that power QRT’s data-driven research and production systems. Your future role within QRT: Design, develop, and maintain internal tools and automation frameworks supporting quantitative research workflows (data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and visualization). Identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks, translating business and research requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions. Implement automation and monitoring for operational and data pipelines using APIs, Python, and DevOps practices. Build and manage system integrations between internal and third-party services to ensure robustness, consistency, and low latency. Develop user-friendly interfaces and documentation; conduct onboarding or training for internal users. Contribute to cloud migration and containerization initiatives (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform). Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and shared technical design discussions across teams. Your present skillset: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years in a software or DevOps engineering role, ideally within a data-intensive, trading, or hedge fund environment. Strong proficiency in Python, with proven experience building automation tools, REST APIs, and integrations. Deep experience with the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) — including administration, workflow design, custom integrations, and automation scripting. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform). Hands-on experience managing or deploying workloads on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Familiarity with SQL and data processing frameworks such as Pandas, Spark, or Airflow. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with comfort working in fast-paced, production-critical environments. Strong communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Curiosity and motivation to learn about quantitative finance, applying technology to complex research and trading challenges. QRT is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diversity as essential to our success. QRT empowers employees to work openly and respectfully to achieve collective success. In addition to professional achievement, we are offering initiatives and programs to enable employees achieve a healthy work-life balance.
