MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. * 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, Kotlin or C++). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field. * Experience in power, memory, or performance measurement and optimization, including profiling and bottleneck analysis in mobile applications. * Experience in designing and building data processing pipelines and using tools like SQL for data analysis. * Experience developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, especially within the Android ecosystem. * Experience with Android platform development, debugging, and the Android build system. * Experience with AI developer tools (e.g., Cider Agent, Gemini CLI), or developing AI-driven solutions using frameworks like Model Context Protocol (MCP) or Orcas. ABOUT THE JOB: Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The Camera System Health (CaSH) team's mission is to ensure and improve the performance, stability, and efficiency of the Pixel Camera. We develop and maintain robust tooling, lab automation, and data analysis pipelines to measure key camera metrics like startup latency, shot loss, power consumption, and memory usage. The work enables data-driven improvements and helps prevent user-impacting regressions, ultimately delivering a smoother and more reliable camera experience for Pixel users. This team works closely with camera feature teams, performing experiments, and building infrastructure to identify issues and optimize performance across the camera stack. Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Design, develop, and maintain software tools and infrastructure to measure, analyze, and optimize Pixel Camera system health, including areas like power, memory, latency, and stability. * Build and enhance automated systems for device lab management, device health monitoring, and testbed utilization. * Contribute to the development and improvement of our feature evaluation processes to provide timely system health feedback for new camera features and releases. * Develop and integrate AI-powered solutions to automate tasks, improve test triage and repair, and provide intelligent insights into camera performance. * Enhance and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and analysis tools to track key metrics, identify regressions, and understand performance characteristics.
