Description

WHO WE ARE.

At CMiT, we do more than provide real-world solutions. We deliver transformative results. Through cutting-edge technology and process innovations, we are changing how federal and commercial clients worldwide deliver their mission. A service-disabled veteran-owned small business, we take pride in serving our nation through exemplary support for our clients and employees alike.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

CMiT is looking for a Software Engineer who’s eager to grow their skills while working with modern cloud technologies. In this role, you’ll help design, build, and maintain AWS Serverless applications using React (with Typescript), Node.js (with Typescript), and various AWS services. You’ll work alongside experienced developers who will guide you, review your code, and help you learn best practices.
This is a great opportunity if you enjoy problem-solving, want to work across both front-end and back-end, and are excited to learn in a supportive, Agile team environment.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field. Experience or education requirements may be met through an equivalent number of combined years of education or experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • 3+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (or 5 years of experience in lieu of degree).
  • Basic understanding of front-end development with React and back-end with Node.js.
  • Interest in learning AWS cloud development (some exposure is a plus).
  • Willingness to take feedback, ask questions, and learn quickly.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional communication, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a team player (team-oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, S3, or API Gateway
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs or integrating third-party APIs.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, GitHub, or GitLab).
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Understanding of basic CI/CD concepts (even if not yet hands-on).
Responsibilities
  • Assist in building and improving features using React with TypeScript and Node.js with TypeScript.
  • Help connect applications to AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, and S3.
  • Work with the team to turn ideas and requirements into working code.
  • Write basic tests and learn how to ensure applications are reliable.
  • Help troubleshoot issues with guidance from senior team members.
  • Participate in Agile meetings and learn the software development process.
