Mō te tūranga | About the role In this key, Software Engineer role in the Home Loans & Insurance Product Group, you will provide technical expertise working in a community of cross-functional squads, ensuring we build in-line with modern best practices. We need your help to replace legacy platforms with modern solutions while ensuring critical business functionality is delivered to our lenders. Your experience and knowledge of modern tooling and best practice will be instrumental in helping to uplift our capability. As well as your enthusiasm to learn and discover functionality from legacy systems to refactor into something an engineer loves to work with and increase our velocity to change to business requests. You are someone that is aware of business, infrastructure, and technical issues to aid in the development and implementation of solutions and anticipate future direction in the tech industry. Your ability to communicate a vision to technical and not-so-technical stakeholders and your ability to listen and adapt to emerging requirements will bring that vision to life. While our legacy platforms are predominantly based on Java, new solutions can be a mix of tech on a best-fit basis. Solutions designed around microservices or kappa or serverless, your experience in one or more of these technologies will be partnered with an enthusiasm for exploring and learning the others. Existing systems will still need to be operated and maintained during this journey, we need someone who can find opportunities for improvement by applying best practice and patterns. Above all, we believe in simplification and want you to help us drive this, to deliver resilient software faster and more frequently. This is a role for which we would normally expect several years of relevant experience. We don’t have a minimum number in mind as this will vary according to what you have been doing in that time.
